November brought surprising news. On November 12, 2024, in the presence of 130 representatives of the largest industrial and transport unions, Pavol Poláček and Šimon Hudák received the "Partner of Slovak Industry and Transport" award from the Federation of Slovak Industry and Transport Associations (FSITA).
This newly established honor recognizes our firm's
contributions to legislative development. We were acknowledged for our
expertise and support in drafting and providing feedback on legislation in our
key areas of focus: construction, environment, and energy.
Šimon Hudák, our
partner and specialist in construction and environmental law, explained our
role as follows: “The Federation of Slovak Industry and Transport Associations
(FSITA) is a member of the tripartite, which is formally known as the Economic
and Social Council of the Slovak Republic, and tasked with providing feedback
on legislative proposals. It reviews draft laws and formulates official
positions. We supported the federation in this process by offering professional
analyses and comments on various pieces of legislation. Furthermore, we defended
our recommendations during the so-called contradiction procedure, where the
acceptance or rejection of comments is determined. Our comments represent the
collective interests of entrepreneurs in Slovakia's industry and transport
sectors."
He went on to say, “due to recent major changes in construction legislation, our lawyers focused on legislation related to new building regulations. As for the collective interests of entrepreneurs in the construction sector, this meant advocating for a building law that is clear and flexible. Because that´s what the industry needs - efficient construction permitting processes free from obstructions, and governed by clear rules and deadlines. We took this into account and commented on the legislation in this spirit.“
In his speech to the leaders of Slovak industry, Pavol Poláček,
our managing partner, said, "We care deeply about the country in which we
work, live, and raise our children. One day, it will belong to them, and we
care about the state in which we leave it for them. That’s why we often ask
ourselves how we can improve the environment we live in.
Our firm commented on the legislation voluntarily and
free of charge. We consider it part of our social responsibility to provide professional
assistance and advice in the relevant areas aimed at fostering a thriving
business environment. As lawyers, we
care deeply about the legal framework and rules under which both our clients
and we ourselves operate. We care about the business environment."
Šimon Hudák added, "This is a great honor, and a
surprising one, as we didn’t expect it; I am very pleased; it is a tremendous
recognition and confirmation that what we do is meaningful and valuable.
Moreover, contributing to the development and improvement of legislation for
the benefit of industry and employment is an incredible opportunity. I’m glad
to have been part of it."
